| The FibreCAT SX80 iSCSI is the new iSCSI model of the FibreCAT SX family and a complete new model to the range. Up until now, FibreCAT SX machines have worked with our ready-proven FibreChannel technology, which has been developed over a number of years. |
| The FibreCAT SX80 iSCSI connects to the server via iSCSI, whilst it uses the cost-effective TCP/IP infrastructure. IP switches and Server Cards are generally not as expensive as FibreChannel infrastructure. No specialist expertise is needed to install and run the system. It is therefore now possible for small and medium firms to embrace storage network technology, whereas before it may not have been viable financially. Also larger firms, which have already developed a FibreChannel infrastructure, now have the opportunity to increase the cost-effectiveness of their network through the use of iSCSI for a less critical Server. FibreCAT SX80 iSCSI can be used in all cases when a Storage Network leads to clear advantages, and when the acquisition costs do not justify a FibreChannel Network. As with all FibreCAT SX systems, the FibreCAT SX80 iSCSI ensures the flexibility, scalability and availability which our customers have come to expect, and it can be used with almost all servers from the mid to low category. Especially in operation with VMware and our midrange cluster solution x10sure our system brings decisive advantages, because of the iSCSI boot functionality. |
